2009-2010 Board of Directors

William L. Richter – J.D., NYU School of Law, M.A. in Russian Studies, Harvard University, B.A. in Russian, Yale College. Mr. Richter has served on the Board of Directors since 1998 and as Co-Chair since 2003. Mr. Richter is a corporate lawyer with a private practice in downtown Santa Cruz and parent of a Kirby alumna, Class of 2005. His involvement in the community includes serving as President of the Board of Directors of Shakespeare Santa Cruz and “pro bono” counsel for the Santa Cruz Design and Innovation Center.

Sandie Shoemaker – B.S. Mathematics, University of Chicago. Owner/Manager of Salamandre Wine Cellars, Ms. Shoemaker has served on the Board since 2001 and as Co-Chair since 2003. She is a parent of a Kirby alumna, Class of 2005.

Enid Brock – B.A, English, Stanford University, J.D., University of Chicago. She worked for the San Francisco firm of McCutchen, Doyle, Brown and Enersen specializing in litigation, and represented Stanford University, General Motors, the Estate of Charles and Ray Eames, and Planned Parenthood. She has served on the Boards of Planned Parenthood and Shakespeare Santa Cruz and joined Kirby’s Board in 2008. She has a daughter, Class of 2010 and two daughters, Class of 2014.

Connie Cahlil – B.S., Accounting, Cal State Univ. Chico, CPA 1977, MBA Harvard University. Ms. Cahlil is the Founding Principal of The Financial Leadership Group, LLC. She has served on the Board since 2005 and has a son who is in the Class of 2011.

Hollis deLancey – M.F.A. in Video, Photography & Printmaking, University of British Columbia. She is a co-founder of GBK and has been a volunteer at the School since 1994. Her daughter is a Kirby alumna, Class of 2004. Ms. deLancey is also Board President and member of Spring Mountain Zen Center and Alcatraz Editions.

Bill Jump – B.S. in Economics, U.S. Air Force Academy, M.B.A., University of Colorado. Mr. Jump is a Certified Public Accountant who has worked in higher education, management consulting, public accounting, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He is the controller and assistant treasurer of the UC Santa Cruz Foundation.

Carl Koppel – B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Strathclyde University. Mr. Koppel has been a member of the GBK Board since 1999. He is the CEO of Extraview Corporation, a Santa Cruz software company, and has been involved in the software industry for 30 years. He is the parent of an alumna, Class of 2008.

Carolyn Leone – B.A. in Mathematics, Missouri Valley College, M.S. in Mathematics, Univ. of Illinois, MA Clinical Psychology, John F. Kennedy University. Ms. Leone taught high school math for several years and is a Senior Financial Planner with Waddell and Reed. She is the parent of an alumna, Class of 2004.

Surya Panditi- B.S.E.E., Indian Institute of Technology, M.B.A., Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Panditi has over 25 years experience in Networking and Telecom, having worked for Intel, UB Networks, Telco Systems, and US Robotics and and was CEO (and later Chairman) of Avici Systems, a venture-funded startup company which he took public. Mr. Panditi currently works for Cisco Systems. He has served on the Boards of Intert Phtonics and Enkoo. He joined the Board in 2009 and is the parent of a student, Class of 2013.

Matt Shelton – B.S. Business Administration, concentration in Marketing, Fresno State. Matt is the Owner and Managing Broker of J.R. Parrish Commercial Real Estate and Monterey Bay Property Management. He was on the Board of the Museum of Art and History for ten years and served two consecutive terms as its president. Mr. Shelton joined the board in 2009 and has a son at KIrby in the Class of 2013. His daughter graduated from Kirby in 2004.

Beth Trenchard – B.S., Business Administration/Marketing, San Jose State University, M.B.A., Santa Clara University. Ms. Trenchard worked for General Electric, Inc., Apple Computer, Inc. and consulted for Oracle Inc. for 15 years. She then moved into the in the nonprofit sector where she has worked for the last 10 years in various capacities including Executive Director, Board Member and volunteer. Her Board Service includes Survivors Healing Center and the SVSLV Soccer Club. She joined the Board in 2009 and has a daughter in the Class of 2015.

Dorothy Wise – B.S. in Computer Science, Princeton University. Ms. Wise was an Engineering Manager and VP of Engineering for many years and now owns the Glenwood Equestrian Center in Scotts Valley. She has a daughter, alumna, Class of 2007 and a son, Class of 2009.
