Purchasing Textbooks for 2009-2010

The 2009-2010 list of novels and textbooks is sorted by department and individual classes. This list was revised and updated on 6/15/09 and is now complete. It is not recommended that 11th and 12th grade students purchase books for their English or other elective classes until they receive their final schedule, as placement in their electives will not be final until then. For a list of “core courses” that it is appropriate to begin purchasing books for refer to the letter sent home by the Academic Dean.

Students may purchase books for the 2009-2010 school year in several ways.

  1. As of July 20, 2009, textbooks may be purchased through Follett’s website which is Kirby’s book supplier. Follett offers both new and, when available, used textbooks. Textbooks may be purchased elsewhere, as long as the ISBN matches the Kirby listing. Some classes may also have teacher-provided materials which will be sold at registration. Delivery may take several weeks, so please plan accordingly. Click here to download a flyer with ordering information.
  2. Textbooks and novels may also be purchased from your favorite online or local bookstore. Three local bookstores (BookShop Santa Cruz, The Literary Guillotine, and Borders) will be given Kirby the list of novels in early July. Mention Kirby when making your novel purchases for a discount. (Borders is providing a 20% discount and BookShop Santa Cruz and The Literary Guillotine will give 10% discounts.) Please make sure to order the book by the ISBN number to guarantee that the right edition is purchased.

To sell textbooks at the end of the year, the Parents Association is hosting a Textbook Swap on June 10 from 8am to 12pm. Follett will be on site to purchase books back on June 12th. For more information on the Follett Text Book Buy Back, click here.
