Admissions Process

2009-2010 Admission

Kirby is still accepting applications for some grades for fall 2009. If you are interested in fall enrollment, please call the Admissions Office at (831) 423-0658 ext. 202.

To Submit an Application

  • Obtain the application forms. There are forms for the parent and student to complete, recommendations forms for the current teachers to complete, and a transcript request form. You can obtain these by:
    • requesting one from the school admissions office
    • downloading the admissions instructions and deadline information.) and using “pdf” versions of forms that you can save to your computer and type in your responses (but you still must print after completion) and sign and mail them in. They are located here.
  • Submit the application (by mail)
  • Give the transcript request and recommendation forms (in hard copy or electronic pdf versions)to the student’s current school with the request that they complete and send the forms as soon as possible after the first semester ends. They are located here.

The Admissions Office will schedule a student interview and assessment after all application materials (including transcripts and recommendations) have been received. The interview and assessment take approximately one hour. It includes a timed-writing assignment, but may include other assessments depending upon a student’s educational background. (Kirby does not use or require standardized entrance tests such as the SSAT or ISEE.)

2010-2011 Admissions Calendar

  • October 13, 2009 – Students may begin “shadows.”
  • November 18, 2009 – Open House for prospective parents and students
  • November 1, 2009 to February 19, 2010 – Request and submit applications for 2010-2011. Early applications are encouraged.
  • January 1 to February 12, 2010 – Submit financial aid applications and all corresponding paperwork to SSS and Kirby.
  • January 28, 2010 – Final Open House for 2010-2011 Admission
  • February 12, 2010 Deadline for financial aid applications.
  • February 19, 2010 – Deadline for new student applications.
  • February 26, 2010 – Final deadline for receipt of application support materials including recommendations and transcripts.
  • March 18, 2010 – Final admissions decisions are mailed .
  • May 8, 2010 – All newly enrolled students take math and language placement tests.

Late applications or in-year transfers are accepted on a space-available basis.
